Meg De Meo is a working class Trade Unionist employed in the hospitality sector.
Working in one of Brighton's most critical, yet most-exploited sectors, Meg is a Unite representative who also sits on the union's National Executive Council.
Megan represents just under 100,000 union members across the South East, spanning almost every section of the regional economy. From energy to transport to local government and the NHS, Meg has stood with workers in securing better pay and conditions at work.
Meg has been key in securing more resource within Unite for hospitality organising which is now the fastest growing sector of the union as a result. Meg has also been a powerful force within the union on the issue of Palestine; writing and speaking on a unifying motion at Unite's national conference, cementing support for worker led BDS campaigns that was passed near unanimously.
The Greens are surging. Since Zack Polanski became Leader press coverage, membership and polling has exploded. The Greens look like they will make huge gains locally and nationally. It is now more important to ensure that candidates represent a new politics.
That is why Meg is standing.
